Board of Directors: Michael Flood
LA Regional Food Bank
With a personal passion for fighting hunger and exceptional management and leadership qualities, President and CEO Michael Flood is a driving force behind the success of the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Since taking the helm in 2000, Michael has led the Food Bank to new records in food distribution while also launching programs for children and seniors. As one of the nation’s largest food banks, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank distributes 60 million pounds of food product to a network of 1,000 agencies and programs throughout Los Angeles County. In 2013, the Food Bank was named “Organization of the Year” by the LA Business Journal in the category of large nonprofit organizations.
With more than 20 years of food banking experience, Michael has served as Chairman of the California Association of Food Banks, on the Board of Directors of Feeding America, and as an editor of the Los Angeles County Public Health “Policy Brief” on Food Insecurity. He currently serves as Chairman of the Los Angeles Food Policy Council Leadership Board, Vice Chairman of California Food Policy Advocates, and on the steering committee for the Alliance to Transform CalFresh.
A Los Angeles native, Michael earned his MBA and BA degrees from the College of William and Mary in Virginia where he was an All-American soccer player. He enjoyed a brief professional soccer career with the Chicago Sting in the now-defunct North American Soccer League.
